Question – Is Daughterly Care an Approved Provider for Home Care Packages?
Answer – Yes, Daughterly Care is an Approved Provider to administer Consumer Directed Care Government Funded Home Care Packages. Many Elders have transferred their Home Care Package to us.
An Approved Provider is an organisation who has been approved by the Government to receive Government Funding for in Home Care Packages.
For the last 24 years Daughterly Care has specialised in enabling, re-enabling, supporting and caring for high net wealth private clients who generally were not able to receive Government Subsided Home Care Packages. This was due to supply being limited and priority was given to low income Age Care Pensioners and Special Needs Groups, for this reason Daughterly Care did not need to be an Approved Provider.
However …
…as a result of The Productivity Commission’s investigation of the Government Funded Aged Care Industry, they recommended to the Government that ALL Elders who have ‘eligible care needs’ be eligible to receive Government Subsidised In Home Aged Care. Why that particular change? Well, in home care is health care for Elders. When Elders receive quality in home care they have less hospitalisations, avoid the nursing home for longer, or totally; and are happier; all of which saves the Government money.
So the Productivity Commission recommended that the Government not restrict the supply of Government subsidised Home Care Packages, but issue a Home Care Package to every senior with assessed eligible care needs. If a senior is self-funded, then they pay $13,087.39 per year towards their Home Care Package and of course self-funded Elders wait longer for a Home Care Package because they have normally put private care in place. More details on the fees self-funded Elders pay.
